We assist in administrative legal procedures for foreign expatriates and foreigners working in Japan for the application & procedure of obtaining “change of status of residence” as deemed necessary when they wish to work in another field for a different activity (kind of work) which has not been permitted for them with the “status of residence” they had been holding at the time!

Extension of period of stay

We assist in administrative legal procedures for foreign expatriates and foreigners working in Japan for the application & procedure to obtain the extension of period of stay in Japan two months prior to the expiry of the “status of residence” (work permit) validity.

Other immigration matters: We assist in administrative legal procedures for foreign expatriates and foreigners working in Japan for the application & procedure to obtain Permanent residency, Re-entry permit and all other immigration procedures as deemed necessary for a particular case under the Immigration law in Japan.

Re-entry permits no longer required for short visits abroad: Foreign residents no longer require to obtain a re-entry permit for trips abroad, unless they will be away for over a year.

The Resident Cards: The alien registration card (gaikokujin toroku shomeisho) had been replaced with a Residence (zairyu) Card embedded with an IC chip in Jul-2012. All foreigners legally residing in Japan for more than three months will be required to hold a Residence Card and carry it with them at all times. Previously, local authorities issue alien registration cards to illegal residents, but under the new system only legal residents will be able to obtain a Residence Card. Holders of the residence cards are registered in the Basic Resident Register and the IC chip enables the central government to uniformly monitor their whereabouts and potentially pickup infringements such as failing to report an address change, etc.

The Residence Cards will be issued to eligible foreigners newly entering Japan when they pass through Immigration on arrival.
